Susan Bange’s methodical approach to Pilates was developed through years of study with some of Pilates’ most revered teachers. Her professional Pilates journey began in 2009 with a 950-hour apprenticeship under Rachel Taylor Segal and Amy Taylor Alpers at the Pilates Center in Boulder, Colorado, before going on to complete her bridge certification with Alycea Ungaro’s Real Pilates® in New York City in 2021, and Mejo Wiggin’s The Classical Syllabus® in 2023.
Susan is sought after for her keen eye and precise cueing that has changed hundreds of bodies. She is passionate about the Classical work, forever refining her teaching technique and leveling up her skills. She is encouraging, but fierce, careful but uncompromising. Her enthusiasm for the Pilates method is infectious- you’ll hear her laugh from across the studio- and her ability to bring her laser-like focus to her clients is unparalleled. Her diversity of education within the Classical method gives Susan a unique perspective that brings together the deep experience of her mentors.
Susan has worked with various populations including professional athletes, celebrities, circus performers, professional dancers, cyclists, triathletes, those suffering with chronic back pain and herniated discs, thoracic outlet syndrome, nerve damage, scoliosis, amputees and many other ailments. As well as these clients, she teaches and mentors future generations of teachers through St. Louis’s Real Pilates® Teacher Training program. Along with her business partner, Kristen Davis, Susan is a trusted host and partner of Alycea Ungaro and Real Pilates® NYC, and together she and Kristen oversee and mentor future generations of Classical Pilates teachers. Her mission is to educate Pilates instructors on the work and legacy of Joseph Pilates.
